Three Showhouses Sponsored by Home Design & Decor to Benefit Multiple Local Charities Charlotte, NC (August 2019) – IDS Charlotte has announced plans for its first designer showhouse, which will consist of three custom homes located in The Preserve at Narrow Passage in Davidson. Top names in Charlotte design will create one-of-a-kind living spaces to bring the homes to life. The showhouses will open in March 2020. Home Design & Decor will serve as the media sponsor, and all event proceeds benefit Motor Racing Outreach, The Hendrick Family Foundation, The Dale Jr. Foundation and Operation Finally Home.

Augusta Homes, Southern Cottage Distinctive Homes and Renovations, part of the Southern Living custom builder program, and Plattner Custom Builders are building the IDS Designer Showhouses, and a breaking ground “Muddy Boots” party will be held October 5, 2019, to kick off the fundraising events. In addition, the organization will host a Sip & See party in January 2020, when the homes are complete, and the fully designed houses will open to the public in March 2020 with an opening night gala to kick off the festivities.

“Charlotte is a community-oriented city. There is a need to give back, unite and expand the good works of our charities,” says Audrey Clawson, president of IDS Charlotte. “These IDSCLT charity designer showhouses, like well-designed rooms, are created to capture the individual essence of our contributors while inspiring all who visit and benefitting the community through raising public awareness of our charities and changing lives for the better. If we can do that and have fun, then we have succeeded in reaching our goal.”

“This event provides a unique opportunity for our community to come together and showcase our area interior designers,” explains Michael Mayer, publisher of Home Design & Decor. “The craft and talent we feature in every issue deserve to be celebrated; the fact that this event benefits charity makes it even better.”

“Charlotte is brimming with talent. What better way to showcase it than on the stage of a showhouse or three, in this case,” says Ashley Hotham Cox, editor in chief of Home Design & Decor. “The city’s design scene is a collective culture, where designers bolster each other’s strengths through support and collaboration, making everyone shine a bit brighter. It’s both a privilege and a thrill to support our city’s design community through the IDS Charlotte Designer Showhouses.”

IDSCLT Designer Showhouses will welcome visitors Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. for three weeks. Special ticketed events on Tuesdays and Wednesdays will include chef demonstrations, floral entertaining, outdoor living and kitchen trend talks, a vendor day and celebrity book signings. In addition, there will be evening champagne tours, wine tastings, a band party in the cul-de-sac, a food truck night and Taste of Davidson.
